Measure diversity using dashboards

What is a D&I dashboard?

Dashboards are a visual management data tool that enables a company and its employees to understand raw data related to KPIs and other metrics in an easy to understand way.

It is the most effective way to track multiple data sources because it puts companies in a key position to monitor and analyse performance. An advantage of using dashboard is that it can be customized to specific needs. This means that a company can implement dashboards for different purposes, e.g. for the whole organisation, different departments or specific processes.

It is important to point out that there is no right answer to how a dashboard should be used. Dashboards do not address the same purpose, which is why it is important for companies to define which KPIs they want to track and why before implementing it.

Why should your company visualize data in a dashboard?

Many companies use different services to track raw data related to KPIs and key performance indicators, which takes time and resources to optimally monitor and analyse. The smart thing about a dashboard is that it brings together all the raw data of the company in visual tables and charts that are easily understood by everyone. In other words, you don't have to be an analyst to use and understand a dashboard!

Advantages of using a dashboard

Data you can understand
Dashboards are useful because they visualise information in a way that everyone can understand. For example, an effective dashboard design uses colours and symbols to highlight the key points identified from raw data. This allows employees to quickly scan a dashboard and get the information they need without going through numerous documents, emails and web services.

Set targets, monitor progress and discover "gaps"
The
company's diversity and inclusion strategy has (presumably) set targets for e.g. gender representation in management or among employees. Here, the dashboard can help you see development and growth, as well as possible turnover and talent loss, which can give an indication of where the company needs to take action to increase diversity.

Effective reporting
There are several reasons why reporting is often handled at the end of the month - for example, it takes time and resources. You can avoid this by setting up a dashboard because it automatically produces reports based on the raw data collected during the month. Not only does this save a company time, but it also optimises its performance in real time.
